epic, epic failure... paramount loss

I lost my camera.

Yes, I lost my camera.

I lost it at Angkor Wat.

Oh, the humanity.

It fell out of my pocket at some point. A frantic search by me and my tuktuk driver garnered much sympathy from others, but in the end, to no avail. Ahh... no words, really. Not only did I lose an expensive piece of equipment, but a gift as well as memories...

However, once I realized it was lost, I had to look for the good in life. Or else, the day would've been a bust, eh? After all, I was in Angkor Wat!

Angkor Wat is beyond words amazing. Just absolutely breath.taking. It took all I had not to get Lara Croft: Tomb Raider up in that joint. Just the sheer size and magnitude of the temples makes you feel so insignificant. I cannot believe the place exists... it's just amazing...

Two things about having lost my camera:
1. It was surprisingly liberating not taking pictures. Yes, a big part of me wanted to capture the moments, but I was free to roam and just take in everything mentally, unburdened by the tourist trap.
2. I was mostly regretting not bringing more polaroid film to take pictures for random poor children. I used it all today when a group of children came to me to get their pictures taken. I love them... they're so cute.

I've been duped a good number of times since I've been here, but I'm saving that for another post. Tomorrow I will check out Siem Reap yet again and have dinner at the North Korean restaurant, Restaurant Pyongyang. Thursday, I have a half day tour on Tonle Sap river and then will head back to Seoul.

Travel will never get old. Never.
